When Tex Beckett received a phone call, on his cellphone, from his ex-girlfriend Nina, to come over. Tex decided not to ask questions. He just drove from where he was to Brooklyn. That had been ok with him.
One problem Mr. Beckett confronted is where he's been driving. It looked like a stretch of road that was narrow. It had a guardrail beside it. So as not to have the driver go over the side and crash to his death. Tex didn't expect anybody to want that. Unless the specific person needed to commit suicide. Not Tex. He had too much to live for. Especially now that Nina wanted him back in her life. At least in Mr. Beckett’s opinion on the subject.
He could've sworn, Nina, spoke to him with concern in her voice, and not with happiness. Guess Beckett would find out, once he arrived there.
When Tex looked in his rearview mirror for anybody behind him, he saw no traffic anywhere. He was the lone driver on the route.
He did think he saw something following him. Just that, Tex thought it hovered, while being behind him.
Beckett looked at the rearview mirror again, and saw nothing.
Saying to himself “Stop being crazy and paranoid. You didn't see anything.” For a few minutes, everything is clear.
Taking a breather, Tex checked his rearview mirror a third time. Nothing.
Out of nowhere, the ufo had been right above him. It was following Beckett. It looked like it came out of a Ray Liotta movie. It decided to fall back, and follow from behind. It had a funny angle. The saucer shaped ufo went on hovering, as if it were flying sideways, and doing things that defied gravity, on this planet called earth, anyway.
Tex didn't know what to make of it. People were saying, during the New York city-swiss confrontation, that they saw ufos. He didn't believe it. He believes it now. The saucer might've been round, but it’s clear, like ice. You couldn't see inside of it. No visual of who did the navigating. It looked thick as an iceberg. It's a wonder Tex could see it. This might be the reason no one is visible. This ship might have been the one to chase everything and everyone away. If the theory of the advancement of technology is true.
Something else began to happen. The radio started having static. Tex never remembered turning it on.
“Wow! Mind control!”
He began hearing disturbing sounds coming from the music box. It sounded like they or it tried to talk to him.
Beckett didn't wait.
“You are mistaken if you think you will take me out without a fight.”
The sounds answered back. Too bad Tex didn't understand the supposed language, the being or beings were speaking.
He wondered if they could understand him.
“I know you can understand me. Just don't try anything tricky.”
Tex tried to sound calm. A thud sound came from the top of the jeep.
“Being a little too aggressive, aren't we?”
Since Tex had the road to himself, he decided to swerve a bit, but not too much to go over the railing.
Tex said “Yeah, that really deceived them”
Tex barely moved.
Luckily for Beckett, he always carried his firearm with him.
Beckett concentrated both on the rearview mirror and the road. Just in case this spaceship decided to put a car in front or in back of him. In their minds, he would then crash or be followed.
Tex said “How many are you in that ship? Do you have other ufos cruising the planet or galaxy? I would like to know these things to be on the safer side of things.”
More weird sounds coming from the radio. This sounded like someone screaming because they were being tortured before they died.
Tex said “Not in your life. You aren't going to experiment on me. Not while I am still alive.” Subdued sounds are heard.
“Hey, you want to bounce on the jeep? I want to see you.”
Another noise on the vehicle. This time Tex decides to check the jeep again, and discovers something very strange looking. It looked alien like, but not like the pictures in the movies. This one looks like the same ice color as the starship.
It almost made Tex crash into a guardrail. He maneuvered at the last second to avoid going over.
Tex said “I guess they are still here from the nyc-swiss confrontation”
All of a sudden, the alien or aliens disappeared.
Sounds coming from the radio.
Tex said “So that's how you want to play it? I got something for you.”
Beckett decided to take a small chip and put it near the radio. It made a piercing sound. As Tex looked in his rearview mirror again, the starship almost crashed. It regained control at the last minute.
Beckett endured hearing a lot of louder sounds. He said “Don't like a taste of your own medicine? Too bad.”
It did keep on following him.
“Nothing is stopping this thing in the sky.”
Tex thought it was going to hover away, but the saucer decided to get a little closer. Tex took a look at it, and said “Whoa! Don't make me have to take the chip out to blare your ears out for a second time.”
The saucer decided to get a little farther away. At least to show good faith.” Tex said “We have an understanding, do we?”
The ufo still followed the jeep.
Tex thought to himself ‘If my girlfriend or sister had any idea that i spotted a flying saucer, or it was mentioned to them that it's following my jeep, they would think i had gone mad. This is something I have to resolve myself.”
No one to talk to but himself, maybe the insane bug crept up on him. Talking to himself and all. Just watching the ufo stalk his jeep started to unnerve Beckett. He couldn't show that. Nothing came from the radio for a long while.
Tex said “You have no more to say?”
No static. No shrieking of any kind. Absolute silence.
Tex said “Something caught you by surprise?”
Tex laughed
“Didn't think it would be this hard? You think all are easy to manipulate? I have been ready for this my whole life. This doesn't surprise me. You are dealing with an expert.” This is what he wanted the ufo ship to think.
Tex said “Not so tough after all, are you?”
Still no sounds.
“Did something scare you?”
Nothing.
Tex said “If that's the case, why don't you go back to where you came from, and stop following me. This way I can be left alone and continue on to my destination. No more distractions. Especially from you. Come to think of it, you are my only obstacle.”
It looked like the ufo ship would crash into the jeep by purpose, but gave it a second thought and put a little more distance between them
“Not likely to get any more action. You aren't answering me. I am not playing your game.” It decided to start in a different path
“Good. Now I can finish what I started.”
At that moment, the starship changed course and followed the jeep again. It hasn't been clear if Beckett knew it continued to follow him, but it did seem intent to do something, before it took off for good.
Without any notification, a beam of light decided to descend on Beckett and the jeep. Tex looked out the window to find out what was going on.
He figured the ufo would destroy him or take him prisoner.
The last sight is unclear, and nobody seemed to figure out if Tex escaped the ufo or had been carried off. No one claimed or disclaimed his appearance. What do you think happened to Mr. Tex Beckett? Ha! Ha! Ha!.......
